Education is necessity
Thji William Chandra (...Being a Ph.D. candidate)
We live in a globalization era. The advancement of transportation has transformed the world into a global village. The pervasive use of the internet not only allows easy access of information, but also provides efficient means of communication even to some of the remotest places on erth. Naturally, our world now is moving in a much faster pace than ever. We see new innovations in various fileds of technology have now become a matter of daily business. This is turns sets the stage for intense competition in almost every (if not every) aspect of humanity. In order to thrive in this kind of environment, education is no longer a privilege. It is necessity!! In this perspective, Permai School bears an extremely important role in educating tomorrow's generations so that they too will be up to the challenge.
I personally spent 12 out of (sofar) 22 years of my academic life in Permai. Now being a Ph.D candidate, I still often find my self referring back to lessons I learnt back when I still wore Permai's Batik uniform every Wednesday (I wonder if it is still a English grammars in day to day conversation to something more sophisticated like some geometry manipulation techniques to clarify a difficult concept in my current research. It is amusing sometimes to see how little things we learnt in the past turns out to be useful today. I hope this can motivate students of Permai to take your study seriously, no matter how silly it may look right now. But intelectual skills and knowlege are the only things I gained from Permai. Motivation, leadership, and social skills are among other things one can also acquire. I still remember vividly the strong teacher - student bond that we had during my time. I have always believed that in later years, this bond somehow played a significant part in building the basis for the confidence I needed to interact with various people of any kinds and bagrounds.
My message to pupil's Permai: "The choice is yours to decide right now. There is an adventurous world waiting for you aout there. You can choose to be warrior that has the necessary spirit an abilities to fight or to be someone who is left behind and forgotten. I hope all of you favor the former. And to act on it, let us all strive for excellence everywhere we are, for your case, starting from the small circle of study in Permai School, and expanding to the global level where the real battles are. God bless and good luck"
